Man sentenced for Illegal Re-Entry into u.S.
Madison, Wis. - John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Juan Xoletl-Hernandez, 36, a citizen of Mexico, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge William M. Conley to 30 months in prison for illegally re-entering the United States after previously being deported. Xotel-Hernandez pleaded guilty to this charge on October 24, 2011.
On March 20, 2009, Xoletl-Hernandez was arrested in Madison for possession with intent to distribute cocaine. On June 26, 2009, the defendant was convicted by the Dane County Circuit Court of that charge, and sentenced to 20 months in prison. On August 26, 2011, the defendant was released to federal authorities. A records check revealed that the defendant had been removed from the United States for illegal re-entry on four prior occasions.
The charge against Xoletl-Hernandez was the result of an investigation conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Peter M. Jarosz.
